Help for the Sudan

With the ever repetitive disasters throughout the world the Club have again responded to the situation in the Sudan and purchased, and filled, another 6 Aquaboxes. On this occasion the Club were well prepared. Under the leadership of John Singer, Chairman of the International committee, everything was ready awaiting the arrival of the boxes. They were delivered on Wednesday 25th August, Filled on Thursday 26th and despatched on the afternoon of Friday 27th August. Picture on the left shows members who packed the 6 boxes, ready to load them onto the van ready for despatch.

What have we been up to

Since July 2000 the Club have made donations of well over £8,000. Principle benificieries have been: Local pensioners (£740), Rotary Foundation (£800), RYLA (£1981), Anchor Unit (£1200)Archie Foundation (£699)Rehab Scotland (£500)Archway (£650) and various overseas projects almost £1000

Where do we go from here

Although the Club may, by Rotary standards, be low in numbers it makes up for that in commitment and enthusiam. The Club is a very active one and recognised for its friendliness and support for the local community. Strangely, most of the Club members live in nearby Newtonhill but there is a hope that more new members can be found from the actual town of Portlethen
