According to a 19th century book, Portlethen should more correctly be called Port - Leviathan after an event when whales came ashore. From humble beginnings it has developed into a large town with many people working locally and in nearby Aberdeen. The town boasts a large academy, medical centre, railway station, swimming pool, golf course and several large retail outlets. Portlethen is located on the dual carriageway A90 south of Aberdeen half way to Stonehaven. |
